It is interesting where curiosity will take you if you let it. That is what Karen Zeman at Don’s Honda found out. Karen was working on an invoice in LightspeedNXT and entered a part that was not in stock. She noticed that a colored light came on at the bottom of the screen. Seeing that it was a locator she clicked on it to see what would come up.

“It brought up a list of dealers that had the part,” said Karen. “I called a dealer in New Jersey and asked him about the part I was looking for and how the NXT Locator worked. He told me more about it and that I could submit my data also.”

Karen signed up for Locator and immediately started getting calls from dealers and moving inventory. The Locator particularly helped Don’s Honda with the hard to move parts that had been sitting on their shelves.

“We had some things that couldn’t be returned,” said Karen. “Stuff that the technicians had opened or gotten greasy, electrical parts that the manufacture would not take back, all of it was sitting on our shelves. With Locator we started to get rid of it.”

With more dealers able to view Don’s Honda’s inventory the parts started to move quicker and turns increased. The locator gave them a new place to sale their parts.

“The locator opened up a new market for us,” said Karen. “I had started to place our obsolete or un-returnable parts on sites like eBay, but it wasn’t until we placed our inventory in the Locator that we really started to see things turn. Now it’s not just us selling our parts, dealers across the country are selling our parts. The Locator has become a great outlet for us.”

“The biggest benefit is that we have moved the things normally we would not,” continued Karen. “Now I’m watching for colored lights in LightspeedNXT, and when I see them, I click on them.”
